Pernell Laate
Pernell Laate – deceased
Both Pernell and his brother, Maxx, learned the basics of carving from their uncle, Willard Laate. However, their carvings soon went far beyond basic. They freely shared their skills and many Zuni carvers learned from Pernell and Maxx
Pernell tended to carve animals while Maxx’s carvings are more exotic.
Pernell had the uncanny ability to set spirits free… to release from ivory or antler a carving so lifelike that you can feel it breathe.
These Pernell Laate Carvings were made during the years 1998 to 2000.
